AF zoom lens is definitely useful for long distance surveilance which is
difficult to get righ focus by remote control due to time rug of communication
speed or necesity of delicate adjustment by controller or through internet.
In emergenies, just to get a object on screen and push AF button, then
you can see the object clearly.
Yamano IR lenses are designed opticaly corrected for the light between
430 - 950nm, which offers clear and sharp image during day& night without
blur.
It is recommended to use at night, especially in the situation such as
an object can't be seen due to strong light of vehicle, and so on.
Also IR lens can work well with EMCCD camera which needs more volume of light through visible light to IR light.
